Our World Revolves Around Them

It's true. Our world really does revolve around our kids. Well, most of the time. My proof? This weekend! I'm reflecting on a weekend spent running around to 2 friend birthday parties for Alice, 1 friend birthday party for Henry, Henry's basketball game, and Henry's ski lessons. We can get so caught up in all their stuff. Cub Scouts and homework and ballet and playdates and making sure they're happy. And that the world keeps spinning.

But that's why we don't feel guilty when we read a book in front of them, spend time on the computer, go to wine club, go out with friends to a movie, Dan goes to a poker night with his friends, I go to book club or go on my annual Girls Weekend (the countdown has begun - it's a mere 26 days away). It's a life lesson, right? Teaching them that Mommy and Daddy have a life too. That we have other interests than just them.

And if we didn't, we might end up looking as worn out as Alice was by the end of the 2nd party yesterday!
