It's been a weird winter. In mid-December, we had less than two inches of snow. Other than that, we've had little rain and mostly blue sky days in the 50s. The forsythia are in bloom (not buds - they're leafed out!), crocus are up, the lilac leaves are out, and tulips are up a couple of inches. It's Spring round here.
This means that my plans to go sledding have been thwarted. Henry and Dan drive up to Mt. Baker every single Sunday for Henry's ski team practice. Every Sunday for fourteen weeks. This has been going on since the first weekend of December. And every week, I plan that the next Sunday, Alice and I will drive up too and go sledding. However, as I said, it's been a weird winter. Even though there's snow up there, it's not good snow. It's either above freezing and it's slushy or it's just below freezing and it's hard packed icy.
Long story short, Alice and I end up staying home every Sunday. We've had some fun playdates, some fun outings and field trips. But mostly, we're just kind of lazy. Today, which was an unusually cloudy day, we went down by the Bay, and took a stroll on the boardwalk.
At one point, we were looking over the railing and saw tons of bubbles rising to the surface. It was crazy. We were sure that it was some huge fish making the bubbles. We watched and watched, and then, quick as lightning, up splashed this duck. He was so entertaining. We watched him for quite awhile as he dove down, bubbles came up, and then he rocketed to the surface.
Then we skipped our way back up the boardwalk.
