Alice and I hadn't planned on making it up to Mt Baker til January or so, but Dan had to go out of town for work today and Henry had to be at Race Team... so off the three of us went to the mountain!
Henry, sporting his brand new fancy schmanzy race helmet with hard sides. Very cool. Just seconds after this photo, he was off! And we met up with him about 6 hours later.
Alice, as you may recall, re-fractured her ankle recently. However, she's been doing really great with it, it looks fine, and she says it doesn't hurt. We've kept her out of activities for about two weeks, wearing a brace. But today we decided that wearing a ski boot was way stiffer and offered way more support than any ole' brace. A slightly fractured ankle isn't gonna hold this kid back from skiing.
Happy, happy to be back on the slopes.
And, just to be clear, the other big motivator for taking Alice to Mt Baker today was the man in red... He arrived on a green snowmobile.
Santa photos - Mt Baker style!

Ahh Santa. We love you.
In the morning, it was very foggy and snowy. Lots of fresh fluffy powder to go around. But the skies cleared in the afternoon and we enjoyed the blue sky.
Eight months is a long time to be away from a sport we love this much. Alice and I had a blast today. Our plan was to take it easy and stay on Chair 2 for the whole day. But that plan flew right out the window about 30 minutes after we arrived - we made it on Chairs 2, 3, 5, and 7. Whew! Alice was ready for a nap.
Another glorious day at Mt Baker and a great start to our 2011-12 season.
Best part of all, we're home now and Alice reports that her ankle feels great.
