Cabin Life...

We returned late this afternoon from visiting my folks at their cabin in MT. It was a great week and the kids had so much fun doing all the "cabin stuff."

Alice & Henry spent lots of time with Grandma & Grandpa...

We took lots of walks through the forest..

Last year when we visited the cabin, Dan and Henry carved Henry's initials in a tree. They're still there!
And the highlight of the trip for Henry.... shooting a BB gun for the first time. Grandpa gave good advice because Henry was a great shot! We brought home the pop cans that he shot for targets and a bunch of the BBs.


Grandma took Henry and Alice fishing in Hughes Creek.
And all that hard work paid off! Alice caught a little Brook trout and Henry landed a whopper of a Cutthroat. Well, it was good size seeing as it came from Hughes Creek! We had them bbq'd for dinner the next night.

We spent a lot of time on the 4-wheelers...

One day, we took the 4-wheelers up to the old Alta Ranger Station. The first Forest Service ranger station in the U.S.

This week was HOT! Low 90s most days and so we spent a lot of time in the creek. It cooled us right off - whoo - mountain snow melt is quite chilly! Henry caught a frog...

The project for the week was building a "rock sculpture." This started as one rock in the creek. Henry's favorite thing to do at the cabin has always been throwing rocks in the creek (which I'm sure is now replaced with shooting the BB gun). Rather than throwing them this year, he started piling them up around that one rock. The sculpture got bigger and bigger. By Friday, it was over 5 feet long. I do believe we have permanently diverted the flow of the creek. Maybe it will turn in to a great fishing hole?
