Each December we make our way to the Pioneer Christmas celebration in our little town. It's corny and so "small town" - but we love it. No commercialism, just good ole fashioned pioneer Christmas fun. It's our holiday tradition. I hope the kids never outgrow this.
We toured all of the log cabins - each with it's own theme. This cabin has a pioneer kitchen and the kids usually help make some holiday creation. Last year it was grinding nuts to go in cookies. This year they cut out cheese angels (Don't ask - I really don't know! The cookies were more fun last year).
One of the cabins is a pioneer schoolhouse. The kids sat at a desk and composed a letter to Santa Claus. Yes, if you look closely at Henry's, you'll see that he asked for a Husky dog. Hmmm?
Alice - well, she went all out. A princess castle, a pony, a music box, a nutcracker, a Chihuahua, a bunny, and a Panda bear. Now that's a wish list.
We then went to the log cabin which was a pioneer post office. The kids both mailed their letters to Santa (and in another couple of weeks, he'll even mail them back a letter - personalized and everything!). Alice was thrilled.
And the grand finale!!! A visit with the Man in Red.
