The kids have their rituals of loving Pearl. Henry gets kitty hugs - gentle little head knocks between the two of them - when he gets home. When Alice gets home, she picks up Pearl, lays down on her back and snuggles. Then Alice says, "You miserable old cat, you." Where did she get that? I don't know. But it's said with lots of love.
