Henry and Rome have been friends since the first week we moved to Washington, when both were 2 years old. Through preschool, kindergarten, and now 1st grade, they've been in the same class. As long as Rome's around, Henry's happy, and vice versa - they're a good team. It makes me smile to see them together.
Today we went on the 1st grade field trip to the pumpkin patch. Wow. There's a reason I'm not a 1st grade teacher - that's a whole lot of kid energy to reign in. But the kids had a blast. They went on a hay wagon ride, chose a pumpkin (not quite the great big ones that Alice's class found), picked an apple to eat, got to listen to one of the farmers describe the importance of bees on a farm, see a beehive, and visit the farm animals (goats, ponies, chickens, ducks, donkey).
Back to Henry and Rome... As always, they had fun just being together.

Is that "happiness," or what?
Check out that gaping hole in Henry's mouth! No wonder he didn't eat too much of his apple.
