The planets are aligned, the sun is shining, a perfect 73 degrees, and the spiders are hatching! Lots and lots of spiders. Or, as Alice put it, "a ga-jillion." Not sure if I spelled that correctly. But you know what I mean. Lots and lots.
These little spider egg sacks are everywhere. If you look closely enough, they're there. Henry and his neighbor friends have been seriously obsessed with insects lately and have spent many an hour looking for insects to put in their bug catchers. They can testify that there are lots of spider egg sacks like this one. And if you've watched Charlotte's web, you know that these sacks hold a ga-jillion of baby spiders (little trivia for ya - Charlotte laid 514 eggs. Only 3 stayed with Wilbur though..)
This afternoon, we went out on the porch, and before too long, we discovered that there were baby spiders everywhere. Way more than 514! There must have been more than one egg sack that hatched today. On the bbq stand, on the garbage can, on the playset. Everywhere. We've watched Charlotte's Web - we know the good that these little guys do in the world. So, we're being kind and letting them live free. And hoping that they're not small enough to make it through the mesh in our screen windows.
Just stay outside and we can all live in peace, my friends.
