We conquered yet another hike today and had a fantastic Tuesday Field Trip. Hertz Trail runs along the north shore of Lake Whatcom and affords some lovely views of the lake we boat on during the summer months. It was fun to see the lake, from a different perspective.
In addition to our usual Tuesday Field Trip buddies - Melinda and Owen - we brought along one of Alice's friends, Lauren.
Lauren, by the shore.
Although Alice loves Owen, she did have fun having a girl friend along.
Owen, aka Speedy, by the shore.
Oh look - Alice found mud. Shock.
There were lots of waterfalls along the way.
The kids had fun exploring the tracks in the mud. They found tracks for dog, wolf, coyote, and bear. Definitely bear.
When the kids got tired of riding their bikes, we ditched the bikes in the trees and let the kids run.
Alice took a photo of Melinda and me (and Freckle, the dog). It was a bit windy at that moment.
Melinda and Owen. Owen did not want to smile for this one.
But Owen was more than willing to smile, as he darted past, for this one.
We hiked/rode bikes for almost five miles today. It was a great afternoon.
