Crabapples

The nicest day we've had this entire summer so Dan and Henry loaded up the boat to go crabbing.

They brought along our neighbor and friend, Tad, as well as our friend Sean along with Guyan and Owen.   The captain and his crew.

They caught a ton of crab - but there weren't that many that met the size and gender requirements for keeping.

They came home with sixteen crabs.   There were a variety of methods discussed/tried for killing the crabs - the ole hatchet to the body method, the drop em in boiling water, and Dan's favorite - the rip off their back method.   I stayed inside for most of that.   But all the boys were pleased with themselves and everyone enjoyed some yummy crab tonight.

While the boys were bringing home the dinner, Alice and I hung out.  With a boot cast there's not a whole lot for us to do.   Biking/hiking/swimming/walking/boating/beach exploring - that's pretty much what we would typically do on a nice summer day.   Instead, we played Barbies, I mowed the grass, and we hung out.   To get out of the house, we took a drive to a local apple orchard to buy some they-pick apples.   Mt Baker was beautiful today.

Only one variety - the Zestars - were ripe this early in the season.  They were very tasty.

A nice way to wrap up a summer day.
