Losers Say 'What'

When you ask children "Hey, do you guys want to go for a hike today?" the answer will most likely be: "Nah... I don't wanna do that." It's much more effective to say, "Children, put on your shoes and get in the car. We're leaving."

Today, I loaded up Henry, Alice, and Merrick and brought them to Tennant Lake. Although they grumbled a little about leaving the house, they had a great time once we got there. We climbed the tower.

The boys practiced blowing bubbles with Hubba Bubba.

And we took a walk on the boardwalk.

"Hey, Merrick..."

"What?"

"Losers say 'what.'"

It was a picture-perfect day.

Yes, I know. Henry's hair is wacky. Merrick and Henry practiced making mohawks this morning.

Exploring nature.

After the tower and the boardwalk at Tennant Lake, the kids still had plenty of energy. Rather than go home, I trooped them over to Hovander to run through the woods and burn more energy.

Hovander and the month of August means dahlias. Big, beautiful dahlias.

"Look! A dahlia as big as my head!"

"It's as big as my head too!"

"Hey, Mom..."
