More Of A Drizzle

To earn Henry's Cub Scout Backyard Camping award, he must set up, sleep in, and take down a tent three times this summer. Yesterday seemed like a good date so we pulled out the tent. Henry and Alice did all the work of setting it up. They did great. It was funny to see what joy they found in having a tent in the backyard. Both spent the entire afternoon playing in the tent, setting it up with all their stuff for the night, and loving the novelty of camping at home.

After a few snuggles from Daddy, he left us to our tent and went up to a comfortable bed. Hmmm... How did that happen?

I stayed with the kids and we read for awhile.

We might have looked bright-eyed and alert.

But by 10pm, we were ready to sleep. Afterall, we knew we'd be up again in another three hours or so...

For the Perseoid Meteor Shower! Indeed, Alice and I set the alarm and got up (Henry was out, out, out. There was no way to wake that kid up!). We lounged on the deck and watched the meteors. It was more of a drizzle than a shower from our viewpoint. I'd heard that you could potentially see 100 meteors per hour. We saw a handful in 20 minutes, then snuggled back in our sleeping bags and went to sleep.

Backyard camping is awesome!
