I've been dreading this birthday. The big one. The big four oh. The year when I turn old.
However, lucky for me, I have some incredible friends. They took care of me. They made me feel loved and appreciated, celebrated and young. I awoke to a yard filled with 40 beautiful balloons.

And the day just kept getting better. I received gifts and notes throughout the day - I felt so celebrated and grateful to have a life filled with people who love me.
That evening, I enjoyed a nice dinner with Dan and the kids. Then I was whisked away to join nine of my friends for an evening of laughs, drinks, dancing, and merriment. I was escorted home in the early morning hours, safe and sound. And very happy to be 40.
