After saying our goodbyes to Dan, the kids and I were ready to join the rest of our family for vacation in Whistler, British Columbia. Wish Dan could have joined us... but we found plenty of reasons to go back to Whistler in the future.
The Sea to Sky Highway from Vancouver to Whistler was incredible. It was absolutely beautiful and ended up taking us quite a bit longer than we had planned as we kept pulling over for the Scenic Overlooks, hiking trails, waterfalls, and Provincial Parks. One of our favorite detours of the trip was to Shannon Falls Provincial Park.
The hiking trail next to the creek/river was... amazing!
It was picture perfect.
Then we came around the corner and saw the Falls. It's the third highest waterfall in British Columbia, at 335 meters (1,099 feet).
We were there at the wrong time of day and the lighting in my photo did not do justice to the beauty of this waterfall. So... courtesy of the internet...

On the hike out, we came across Stawamus Chief. It's a granite dome that towers over 700 meters (2, 297 feet) above the water. It's claimed to be the "second largest granite monolith in the world." (Devils Tower is the fifth largest!) The indigenous people of the area consider it to be a place of "spiritual signficance."
After that, we hit the road again, only to drive about 20 minutes before pulling over to visit Alice Lake Park. We had to stop. Of course we did!
It was a beautiful lake with a super swim beach. If we're ever by there on a hot day, I know where I want to stop.
After just a couple more detours to ooh and ahh, we made it to Whistler! We were so happy to be there and met up right away with Grandma and Grandpa to begin exploring the Village Green.
