Slide!

The Olympic Slide Center is just a short distance from the Village and we drove on over to Blackcomb to check it out.  Before entering the slide arena, we were warned that a black bear had been feeding in the area that morning.  But the girl who told me that then said, "Just give him some room.  You'll be fine."   Then she sent us into an enclosed arena.

So cool.   This is the track for the luge, skeleton, and bobsleigh events.   Zane - 4.   Aunt Michelle - 1.

A really great venue.  It's the world's fastest and most technical course.

Ooh, look!  Bear scat.  But no bear.

Elise and me.  We hiked and hiked up the arena, next to the track.

And we really did think we were at the top.  But it turns out we were less than 1/2 way to the top.  It was a huge track.

Afterwards, we went in the Visitor Center and tried out some of the cool equipment.  Future Olympian...

It was neat to see some of the gear - these shoes had toes like rocks.  And cool spiky things on the gloves.

The best part of the Visitor Center?  The virtual bobsleigh ride.   Wind through the hair, shaking seat, twist this way and that... just like the real thing.
