One of our favorite programs at our local library is Dog Days of Summer where kids are paired up with a dog to practice their reading skills. Last year, Henry and Alice read to a huge Weimaraner named Hector. He was wonderful. This year, Henry got to read to Willis, an adorable Pug.
Willis liked the joke book Henry read to him. "What's the perfect dog for a Vampire? A Bloodhound." Ha, ha. 
Alice read to Pongo who was a sweet boy. He was very patient as Alice sounded out words in her Bob books. As a beginning reader, she did a great job. It was nice for her to have a very patient listener.
