Race Team

After two years of ski lessons, Henry joined the Mt. Baker Race Team this year. The team is designed to give "enthusiastic local skiers the opportunity to develop their competitive skills and the broader emotional and organizational skills that ski racing demands through regional competition." It's geared towards kids who are eight to eighteen year olds. Henry is seven and a half, but we really feel he's mature enough, has all the ski basics down, and is ready for this great opportunity.

Dan and Henry will be getting up bright and early every Sunday. Fourteen weeks of this... Henry making his breakfast at about 6:00am this morning.
What a beautiful morning to be on the ski hill! It must have been early - the moon was still out.
That's my boy...
All sorts of kids were up there this morning, ready for a great ski season!
We're so lucky to live with this mountain right outside our back door.
They rolled in the door tonight about 5:00pm - eleven hours makes for a long day. But I'm told that Henry had a blast.

Looking forward to another great ski season!

Zane crashed into a tree skiing yesterday, flipped and twisted a couple of times...lost both skis and poles...got brought off the mountain by ski patrol in the emergency sled and after 1 hour at the ski patrol medical room and 3 hours in the ER with 4 X-rays, he does not have a broken leg, but he does have a severe bruise and can not walk without crutches. So he now has cool stories for the kids at school and told quite a few today. He says he isn't skiing again until at least this coming weekend.
