Girls Summer Kayak Adventure

My friends and I have a lot of events which we look forward to each year, including Girls Summer Kayak Adventure the last Sunday of June. This year, we were ready to go. Well, sort of.
Okay, now we were ready to go.
Melissa and Collette were two of the newbies on this trip. Although Melissa looked a little dubious, she was excited to get on the water.
Jodi was also a newbie but brought a lot of enthusiasm to the day!
Kim gave us the two thumbs up, and we were off.

Although cloudy, it was a perfect day for kayaking. Not a breeze, not too hot, and water like glass. Perfect.
Look, Mom - no hands!
Jodi was a great tandem kayak partner.
I love kayaking. Why don't we do this more often?
We stopped at a beautiful little cove.
Cecile and I were lovin' our awesome wet suits - we had dry butts and were nice and warm. Everyone else kind of felt like this... ewwww.
It happened to be low tide and we saw gobs and gobs of sea stars all along the shore.
After a quick break, we got back in the kayaks and paddled on down toward Dot Island.
We were on the water about four hours and had a great time. So great in fact that we had to celebrate at a nearby restaurant with hot soup, yummy sandwiches, big bottles of beer, and chocolate cake. What a day!
Next year? Four hours of kayaking followed by massages at the nearby spa. At least that's the plan.

We all left today with sore arms and shoulders, much in need of a good massage, or at least a few ibuprofen - but we had a fantastic time.
