Our 3rd annual last day of school trip to the beach was celebrated at Sandy Point with four moms and eleven kids. We had a blast! It was a low tide of -2.9 and our first trip to this particular beach.
Real sand! What a treat in western Washington. It didn't take long for the kids to run out on the beach and start exploring.
One of the moms brought along some stale bagels to feed the gulls. Happy birds!
Alice's friend, Signe, joined us. They were the only girls and they had such fun together.
Henry, Rome, and Micah quickly made it out to the water and discovered eagles. Nine bald eagles were hanging out on shore. They were quite close but the boys made enough noise that they moved further away.
Then the boys found the waves!
The waves were awesome and the boys had fun jumping in them and getting wet.

Alice and Signe were happy collecting "treasures" and putting them in their bags. A good sandy beach means lots and lots of sand dollars.
After the boys moved on, Alice and Signe thought they would try out the water. They were a little tentative at first....
Until they discovered the joy of jumping in to a wave.
Then they couldn't get enough of it.
Pure joy!
As the afternoon went on, they became more and more adventurous.
And before I knew it, they were drenched. And happy.
The big kids... they mostly spent their time throwing sand at eachother.
Meanwhile, the girls decided to just lay down in the water.
It wasn't the warmest day, but they didn't care. They had a great time.
After a change of clothes, the kids had fun constructing this fort. Signe, Kodi, Micah, Henry, Kyle, Rome, and Alice. The other four boys were too busy throwing sand at eachother. But all eleven had a great day at the beach.
A perfect way to start off the summer!
